On April 6th 2017, Mrs. Michielini and her talented, dedicated fifth grade creative arts class traveled to Saratoga Springs, New York for the statewide art competition, the Olympics of the Visual Arts. There were 38 school districts involved and over 85 individual schools. Approximately 1500 people attended and there were just under 900 students that competed.
A big congratulations is in order for all three groups that represented C.V. Starr. Our Fashion Design group created a carousel inspired dress and took home third place in the elementary fashion design category. Our Illustration group created a piece inspired by the book the Illustrated man by Ray Bradbury and were awarded with first place in the elementary illustration category. And our sculpture team collaborated and created an underwater theme sculpture of a shipwreck with an under the sea city growing out of it. This group was honored with first place in elementary sculpture.
A big congratulations to all of the participants for all their hard work since October. The artwork is now on display in the CV Starr lobby.
