Dr. Jane Sandbank
Dr. Jane Sandbank arrived as Superintendent of Brewster Schools with a 25 year history of service to children and youth, families and communities as an educator in various school districts in New York City, Westchester County, and most recently, Rockland County. Before coming to Brewster, she served as Deputy Superintendent of Schools in the South Orangetown Central School District, a Rockland County district that in many ways parallels Brewster. She also served as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction in that district. Previous to that she has been a central office administrator in charge of professional development in the Chappaqua Schools and an English Supervisor for the Ossining School District. She has been principal of an alternative high school in Flushing, Queens where she started her career as an English teacher. She has also been a teacher and supervisor at the Bronx High School of Science. She holds a doctoral degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in Leadership and Organization, and Masters Degrees in Educational Administration and English Literature from Fordham University and Brooklyn College. She has been an Adjunct Professor at Teachers College and in the Graduate School of Education at SUNY, New Paltz.
