Matt Byrnes is in his fourth year as Principal of Brewster High School. He came to Brewster from Novato, California, where he had spent two years as the Principal of Novato High School. He earned his undergraduate degree in English and Political Science from Duke University, and also holds graduate degrees in English Composition from San Francisco State and Educational Administration from The University of California, Berkeley. A former officer in the United States Army, Mr. Byrnes began his teaching career at Balboa High School in San Francisco, where he taught English and was the Head Varsity football coach for three years. He has also served as Dean of Students at Archbishop Riordan High School in San Francisco, California, and as Assistant Principal at San Rafael High School in San Rafael, California.
