Six More Weeks of Winter

Right, then.  Here is a quick breakdown of the site:
  • Calendar: shows the due date of select assignments
  • Assignments: archives all assignments for a course
  • Blogs: contains student blogs (currently only used in AP Language)
  • Wikis: contains collaborative student assignments
  • More: contains most of what you are likely looking for, including daily lessons; general feedback on assignments; and archives of most class resources, from texts and handouts to rubrics and writing guides
And here are the current essential questions for each course:

AP Language
  1. To what extent has the English language changed in the last ten years?
  2. To what standards should we hold our grammar?
  3. How pervasive is Standard Written English in positions of power, and to what extent should we embrace David Foster Wallace's perspective on SWE?
  4. What is revealed by our favorite words and phrases -- and by our least favorites?
Regents English 10
  1. How do we collectively and individually define innocence?
  2. To what extent is experience connected to innocence?  To what extent is the relationship a dichotomy?
  3. How do we relate to and rely on our imaginations?  In what ways do different environments alter imaginative processes?
  4. Do the ideals of Romanticism echo in contemporary America?  If so, in what aspects are they discernible?
Media Studies
  1. To what extent do advertisements affect our consumption of other mass media?
  2. How does the message of an advertisement differ from other media, such as television programming?
  3. Once we understand the mechanisms used in advertisements, how are their impacts and influences altered?
