The 2017 edition of the Brewster High School Literary magazine, URSUS, was awarded the designation of “Excellent” by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). NCTE’s Program to Recognize Excellence in School Literary Magazines was created as a way of publicly recognizing excellent literary magazines produced by students, teachers and schools and to encourage all schools to develop literary magazines. This program is open to all secondary and middle schools across the United States, Canada, Virgin Islands, and to American schools abroad. The 2017 edition of URSUS featured 100 pages of poetry, fiction, nonfiction and art created by students in grades 9-12, as well as an “Alumni” section.

All students are encouraged to submit work for the 2018 magazine to Mrs. Fine or Ms. McTigue in person or via email. Students also attend meetings on Thursdays after school in room 211. Let your creativity shine and your unique voice be heard!

Congratulations to all those who made (and continue to make) URSUS such a success!
