Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor's in Language & Culture Master's in Spanish Literature Certification 6-12 Spanish
I have been teaching Spanish at Brewster High School for 30 years. I received my undergraduate degree in Language & Culture from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY and my graduate degree in Spanish Literature from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY.
I have taught all levels of Spanish over the years, however for the majority of my career, I have taught mostly Levels III, IV and Advanced IV.
My philosophy on teaching is that individuality, progress, and change are fundamental to one's education. Believing that people learn best from what they consider most relevant to their lives, I aim to center my curricula on the needs, experiences, and interests of students. I believe that education should focus on the whole student, rather than on the content or the teacher. I prefer to emphasize on group activity and group problem solving so that the students learn through cooperative learning strategies. I am quite antiauthoritarian, experimental and visionary and I strive to develop problem- solving ability and higher level / critical thinking within my students.
