A Murderously Good Time With BHS Production of CLUE

A Murderously Good Time With BHS Production of CLUE

Fast-Paced, Funny Mysterious Evening for All Ages

Brewster High School Performing Arts production of Clue delivers a fast-paced, funny, and delightfully mysterious evening of entertainment. From the moment the lights dim and thunder rumbles through the auditorium, the audience is whisked away to a dark and stormy night at Boddy Mansion—where secrets, suspicion, and plenty of laughs are on the menu.

The student cast handles the show’s quick dialogue and slapstick humor with confidence, and it’s clear they’re having a great time unraveling the mystery. Jimmy McCann as Wadsworth, the butler announces, with perfect timing and dry wit, “Dinner is served.” It’s a line that sets the tone for the delicious chaos that follows. Jacob Caraballo plays the enigmatic Mr. Boddy, the wealthy, blackmailing host who invites the guests to his mansion; Kate Sullivan as the cunning Miss Scarlet, Anthem Maslov as the paranoid Colonel Mustard, Mrs. Peacock played by Lilian Jocelyn delivers a spot on wealthy socialite, Solomon Bettcher as the absent minded Professor Plum and Miguel Suarez as the clumsy and disreputable Mr. Green are all a wonderful ensemble of talented actors. Set in the 1950s, the costumes perfectly capture the era’s style and personality. Each character’s outfit not only reflects the decade but also their colorful name and quirky personality

The stage, which is a standout feature, is arranged like the classic Clue game board, with colorful squares that represent the distinct rooms of the game painted by students on the walls—each one instantly recognizable: the conservatory, the billiard room, the study. The student crew deserves major applause for maintaining the atmosphere of the gloomy mansion.

The props are a wonderful nod to the beloved board game: the wrench, the rope, the revolver–each one handled with dramatic flair. When the lights flicker and the thunder rolls, you can practically feel the tension rising. Sound effects—from thunderclaps to the distant barking of dogs—add to the suspense and humor of the night.

With genius direction by BHS alum and new teacher Richard Grasso (who is also stage manager and plays piano during the show), inspiration of producer Andrea Perdicho, creative design, and a hard-working student run crew behind the scenes,  this show–which students have been preparing for since rehearsals started in September– is a winning combination of comedy, suspense, and old-fashioned fun.

Showtimes are Friday and Saturday, November 7th and 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the Brewster Performing Arts Center. Tickets can be purchased online for $15 or at the door for $20 (for adults). To purchase online: https://tinyurl.com/5xvf5sh4
