Big 12 Weekend for BHS Marching Band

Big 12 Weekend for BHS Marching Band

Inspired Event Will Set Tone For The Season

Bright and early on Saturday, September 7th, 2024, the Brewster High School Marching Band boarded two buses headed for Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field--home of the UCONN Huskies.

Brewster was one of 12 high schools selected to participate in UCONN's Band Day. The morning was spent rehearsing with the more than 300 members of the UCONN Marching Band, perfecting music for a halftime performance. After getting into uniform, BHS band members were escorted into the stadium to watch the UCONN Huskies football team take on Merrimack College. Halfway through the second quarter, the bands made their way to the field for the halftime show. Weeks of work culminated in an exciting performance of over 500 musicians for the cheering Husky fans.

"Besides the excitement of playing for thousands of fans," said Andrea Perdicho, Director of BHS Performing Arts, "the BHS Band spent the day experiencing what it means to be a part of a college marching band, the commitment and discipline it takes to play at a high level, and be a part of something greater than themselves. It truly was an inspiring day, one that will fuel the rest of the BHS Marching Band's fall season."
