Kayla Corvino Selected for Prestigious Alexander Fellowship at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College

As a 2025 Alexander Fellow, Corvino will join an inaugural national cohort of distinguished teachers

Kayla Corvino, an educator at Brewster High School, has been selected for the prestigious Alexander Fellowship. This is a highly competitive leadership development program housed within Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College of Education and Human Development.

Launched as part of the Peabody College’s Alexander Teaching and Learning Initiative, the Alexander Fellowship aims to elevate classroom teachers as influential leaders within their schools and districts. Fellows are chosen based on their instructional expertise, leadership potential, and commitment to furthering education.

As a 2025 Alexander Fellow, Corvino will join an inaugural national cohort of distinguished teachers from across the country for a yearlong experience that blends research-based professional learning with real-world application. The fellowship includes:

  • An immersive summit on Vanderbilt’s campus in Nashville, TN

  • Monthly virtual professional learning sessions led by faculty and experts

  • Mentorship from experienced teacher-leaders and scholars

  • A capstone leadership project focused on making a measurable impact in their local context

“I am honored to be selected as an Alexander Fellow,” said Corvino. “This opportunity allows me to collaborate with exceptional educators nationwide while bringing back innovative strategies to support students and teachers in our community.”

The fellowship is part of Peabody’s broader mission to invest in teacher leadership as a key driver of school improvement and student success. By bridging the gap between research and practice the Alexander Initiative supports educators in leading transformational change within K-12 systems.
