New Brewster Green Playground at JFK Elementary School

New Brewster Green Playground at JFK Elementary School

Designated Pre-K Area is a Highlight

Brewster Central School District administrators, teachers,  staff and students gathered on September 14, 2026, to officially open the new playground at JFK Elementary School.

The playground includes arching spider webs, tall slides, a climbing wall, steps and bridges, bouncy chairs, a merry go round and a specially designated area for Pre-K students. All of the equipment, of course, is Brewster green.

“The design and vision of the playground was a team effort,” explained Assistant Principal Eileen Cruz, who spearheaded the planning committee.

“We met with and got feedback from our occupational therapists, physical therapists, teachers and staff.”

A group of second graders--in unison--thanked district administrators including Superintendent Dr. Michelle Gosh, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Victor Karlsson, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources Dr. Stephen Hancock and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Maggie Andriello as well as members of the Board of Education.

“We students of JFK thank you for our new playground…We love it so much because we love to play…Thank you for your kindness... We promise to play safe and have fun and make friends. Let’s cut the ribbon!”

As soon as the ribbon was cut, students got to play for a bit on the new equipment.

“The rock wall is challenging but really fun,” said Lincoln Cullen.

“I love the very long slide,” said Aurora Cassera.

Lila Gianfrancesco picked the merry-go-round.

“That’s my favorite. It makes you dizzy.”

A highlight for the community is a specially designated area for Pre-K students.

“We are grateful for the ongoing support of the community which allows us to enrich and differentiate experiences for all students,” said Dr. Michelle Gosh.
