Pathways to Success: Introducing the Senior Success Project and Brewster Internships

Pathways to Success: Introducing the Senior Success Project and Brewster Internships

Students Are Making An Impact

Brewster High School students are taking charge of their learning and making an impact with the 2025–2026 Senior Success Project. This unique program allows students to design and carry out their own projects, choose meaningful internships, and volunteer with local community organizations that reflect their passions and goals.

Students have partnered with more than a dozen local organizations to explore career paths and apply the skills they’ve learned in school in real-world settings. From coaching youth sports and mentoring younger students to leading community initiatives, students take full ownership of their projects and hold themselves accountable for their success.

Students have expanded their sense of community far beyond our school and town.

Christephen Ayemou took this work internationally, traveling to Africa to teach English. Through this experience, he built meaningful connections across cultures, supported students in another country, and represented our community on a global stage. His work shows how learning and service at Brewster can extend well beyond local boundaries and have real impact internationally. Reflecting upon his experience Christephen stated ¨Having an open mind allows opportunities to find you, even when you don’t yet know how they will impact your future. It wasn’t until I reflected on the experience through the project that I realized how many skills I was using and how much I had grown."

The Senior Success Project reflects Brewster Profile of a Graduate, emphasizing curiosity, critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and civic responsibility. By designing their own projects, students practice these skills in authentic ways, preparing for college, careers, and meaningful participation in their communities.

Led by Mrs. Kayla Corvino, Ms. Perdicho, and 26 dedicated Brewster High School teachers and staff, the project continues to expand as more community partners get involved, creating even more opportunities for students to demonstrate their success. This is a way for the students to be evaluated on their abilities beyond a test score.

“The Senior Success Project is all about empowering students to take ownership of their learning,” said Mrs. Corvino. “They set goals, take initiative, and demonstrate leadership in ways that are both meaningful to them and valuable to the community.”
