New York State's Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) seeks to provide the State's public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and student who are 18 years of age or older ("eligible students") certain rights with respect to the student's education records.
It is the policy of the Board of Education to inform members of the public about the administration and operation of public schools in accordance with the Freedom of Information Law of the State of New York.
Legislation was recently enacted requiring the posting of a “Parents’ Bill of Rights for Data Privacy and Security” on district websites. The mandatory transmission of student data points to third party clearinghouses was also eliminated, as a result of this legislation.
The Director of Technology and Innovation shall establish regulations governing the use and security of the district's computer network. All users of the district's computer network and equipment shall comply with this policy and those regulations. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action as well as suspension and/or revocation of computer access privileges.
