About Henry H. Wells Middle School
Henry H Wells Middle School is the home to Brewster sixth to eighth students. Our school motto “We are Wells” captures the philosophy of our school. We are a proud, inclusive community of learners, who supports our students academically and social-emotionally, meeting their unique needs.
We have a team-teaching philosophy, where core teachers collaborate with guidance counselors to provide the best opportunities for our students to be successful. In addition, we strive to help our students become well-rounded by taking world languages, technology, physical education, creative arts, music education, and other electives. We also offer numerous clubs and athletic teams to help foster our students development. Our goal is to challenge students by offering rigorous coursework, while supporting all students through a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). By looking at student data, we can assess their needs and provide targeted support wherever it is needed.
In addition, we provide Positive Behavioral Systems of Support (PBIS). To support positive behaviors, each month, we meet with students by grade-level to remind them of our expectations, while recognizing their accomplishments and celebrating their successes. We use a system of BEAR BUCKS, which staff members give to students, when they recognize students exhibiting desirable behaviors. Integral to this, we choose a monthly theme, which targets a certain characteristic or focus. By reading a school-wide book, we incorporate the lessons from our shared reading experience into our monthly themes, choosing themes like: community, resiliency, compassion and others. This gives a framework to share the values that will help our community thrive and our students develop skills that will serve them well in the future.
We are proud of our community and our school, and we welcome parent involvement. Our PTA is very active in supporting our school and providing opportunities for our students. We encourage you to support their efforts and to get involved.
