Welcome to Brewster Central School District!
The Brewster Central School District is pleased to welcome all school-age students residing within the district’s boundaries. To verify the assigned school district for a property, please visit the Putnam County Office of Real Property Tax Services website.

New Student Registration:
To register a new student, please contact the District Registrar at 845-279-8000, ext. 6150.
Important:- Appointments are required. No walk-ins accepted.
- All paperwork must be completed before your scheduled appointment.
Pre-Kindergarten Registration for 2025-26:- Lottery Application Period: February 4–28, 2025
- Lottery Announcement: March 12, 2025 at 3 PM
- Placement Notification Sent to Families: March 14, 2025

Middle and High School Registration:Please note that registrations for the Middle School and High School follow a two-step process:
- First, you will meet with the District Registrar.
- Afterward, you will be contacted by the Building Registrar at the school your child will attend.

To register a student in the Brewster Central School District, the following documents are required:
1. Completed District Registration Packet
- The student enrollment packet includes a checklist of required items to bring to your registration appointment.
- Please complete one form per child. All forms can be found below.
2. Proof of Residency- All new students must provide documentation to establish residency within the district.
- The documents must show the student and parent/guardian’s physical address (both must reside at the same address).
- Note: A post office box is not acceptable for residency verification.
- Refer to the Registration Packet for a list of required residency documents.
Important: Falsification of any information provided will be considered fraudulent. Legal action, including civil or criminal remedies, may be pursued. The district reserves the right to recover tuition if it determines that a student is not entitled to attend on a tuition-free basis.
3. Proof of Age- Provide acceptable documentation to verify your child’s age. Please see the Registration Packet for a list of acceptable documents.
4. Proof of Immunization- Provide proof of your child’s immunization records as required by the district.
5. School Records- Bring the following information from your child’s previous school:
- Name, address, phone number, and fax number of the previous school.
- Most recent report card.
- A signed Request for Release of Records, which will be completed during registration.
- Most recent Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan, if applicable.

Immunizations, Physicals, and Medications
In an effort to streamline the requests for medical documentation, please see the required medical documentation breakdown by grade.
NYSED requires a physical exam for new entrants and students in Grades Pre-K, K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 & 11; annually for interscholastic sports; and working papers as needed; or as required by the Committee on Special Education (CSE) or Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE).Universal Pre-K:
- Physical within the past 12 months
- 4 doses of DTaP (Diphtheria and Tetanus toxoid-containing vaccine and Pertussis vaccine), 3 doses of IPV/OPV (Polio vaccine), 1 MMR, 3 doses of Hepatitis B and 1 dose of Varicella (Chickenpox vaccine) 1–4 doses Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine (Hib), 1 to 4 doses Pneumococcal Conjugate vaccine (PCV)
Kindergarten:
- Physical within the past 12 months
- -4 to 5 doses of DTaP (Diphtheria and Tetanus toxoid-containing vaccine and Pertussis vaccine), 3 to 4 doses of IPV/OPV (Polio vaccine), 2 MMR, 3 doses of Hepatitis B and 2 doses of Varicella (Chickenpox vaccine).
1st Grade: Physical within the past 12 months2nd Grade: Physical may be requested for CSE
3rd grade: Physical within the past 12 months
4th Grade: Physical may be requested for CSE
5th Grade: Physical within the past 12 months

7th Grade: Physical within the past 12 months. 1 dose of (MenACWY) Meningococcal conjugate vaccine
8th grade: Physical within the past 12 months required for CSE, sports participation, and/or working papers (age 14+)
9th Grade: Physical within the past 12 months
10th Grade: Physical within the past 12 months required for CSE, sports participation, and/or working papers.
11th Grade: Physical within the past 12 months
12th Grade: Physical within the past 12 months required for sports participation. 2 doses or 1 dose of (MenACWY) Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (if the dose was received at 16 years of age or older)

CPSE REFERRAL
If you have concerns that your preschooler is not reaching the developmental milestones or performing as you would expect and the professionals working with your child continue to suspect that your child’s ability to learn is being adversely affected by a possible disability, please contact the Pupil Personnel Services Office.

McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance ActThe McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act of 1987 provides protections for students who are living in a shelter, car, park, bus, train, campsite, other temporary living situation, or with another person or family, due to loss of housing as a result of economic hardship or natural disaster. Students protected under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act are entitled to immediate enrollment in school, even if they do not have the documents normally required, such as proof of residency, school records, immunization records, or birth certificate. These students may also be entitled to other services. Parents or guardians who believe their child may be eligible should complete the “Student Residency Questionnaire” in the Registration Packet.

Change of Address
If you are updating your address, this can only be done by appointment with the District Registrar.
