BHS Students Selected For NYSSMA All State Conference Choirs

Congratulations to Maeve Looby (Class of '25) and Mikaela Russano (Class of '26) for having been selected for this year's NYSSMA All State Conference Choirs.

 

Both participated in last spring's NYSSMA solo festival to receive a perfect score of 100% in their performance of a Level 6/All State solo and sight singing abilities.

 

Level 6 repertoire is the most challenging for singers to perform as it includes major Opera arias and Art Songs often sung in a foreign language.

 

They were selected out of hundreds of other NYS Sopranos to represent Brewster High School at the most prestigious of school music events in New York State.

 

The All State Choirs will rehearse in Rochester, N.Y. December 5th - 8th and will culminate in a concert performance at the Eastman School of Music on December 8th.

Furthermore, this makes them eligible for this year's National Association for Music Educators (NAfME) All Eastern Conference ensembles meeting this April in Hartford, CT. All Eastern occurs every two years and students are selected from singers from 17 eastern border states.
